MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The National Weather Service says a line of strong thunderstorms has brought rain and small hail to portions of Vermont.

Forecasters say Montpelier got about an inch of rain during a one-hour period on Friday. Heavy rain showers also were reported in Norwich, Manchester and south of Ludlow.

Vermont utilities were reporting about 265 customers without power late Friday, most of them in Orange and Windham counties. About 850 customers had been in the dark earlier.
