UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - A Prince George’s County police officer sent to investigate a report of an armed man fired his weapon, but no one was hit and a person was taken into custody.
Police were called Saturday around 4 p.m. to Audrey Lane and Indian Head Highway for a report of a man with a gun, but police couldn’t locate the man. After a second call, police found a possible suspect and a confrontation ensued.
County Police Chief Henry P. Stawinski III said the officer fired after he believed the individual pointed a weapon toward police. Stawinski said a weapon was recovered and that it turned out to be a BB gun.
Police said the man was taken into custody. There were no immediate reports of charges and the man was not named.
