LUMBERTON, Miss. (AP) - City of Lumberton alderman Jay McGraw is resigning.
McGraw, who has been an alderman for almost five years, turned in his resignation last Tuesday during a board of alderman meeting.
WDAM-TV (https://bit.ly/29DRx20 ) reports McGraw said his last day will be July 29.
McGraw says the decision to resign happened because he’s selling his house and relocating.
He says a special election will be held to fill the post.
McGraw has mentioned the idea of resigning in years past after run-ins with law enforcement related to shoplifting charges.
