IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - A judge has delayed the trial of a man charged with murder in the 1995 death of an Iowa City woman.

The attorney for Steven Klein told a judge Friday in Iowa City that he needed a delay because some of the evidence was missing or difficult to find. The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports (https://icp-c.com/29OZdA5) the judge said the trial would begin in late March or early April next year. Klein, of Mount Vernon, had been scheduled to begin trial July 25.

Klein is accused of killing 38-year-old Susan Kersten. Her body was found in 1995 in her burned-out car near Iowa City. An autopsy showed Kersten died of blunt force trauma to the head before the fire.

Authorities have said Klein was romantically linked to Kersten.
