WESTFIELD, Mass. (AP) - State police have released the name of the woman killed when the car she was driving struck a tree in Westfield last week.

Police say 68-year-old Frances Poe, of Westfield, was heading west on U.S. Route 20 Friday evening when she crossed the center line and crashed.

Capt. Mike McCabe says Poe apparently suffered a medical emergency that made her lose control of the vehicle.

Firefighters removed her from the wreckage and she was taken to the hospital where she died that night from her injuries.

Poe was only person in the vehicle.

McCabe says the medical examiner’s office will head any further investigation.
