SEVERN, Md. (AP) - A Maryland man who fatally shot two intruders at his home last weekend has been arrested on drug charges, authorities told a local newspaper.

The Capital (https://bit.ly/29xSTHN ) reports 52-year-old John Matthew Garrison of Severn was arrested Monday night by Anne Arundel County police, who said investigators found cocaine, marijuana and heroin at his home while investigating the deaths.

Police said Garrison shot and killed 42-year-old Thomas Mason and 40-year-old Timothy John Kerr on Saturday after they tried to enter his home. Kerr attempted to drive away in a pickup truck, while Mason forced his way into a nearby home, police said. Authorities added that Kerr was found dead in the vehicle and Mason died at a hospital where he was taken. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore said that the suspects died from their gunshot wounds.

Authorities said the drugs were discovered inside Garrison’s house during the investigation of the deaths. Police also said they found a shotgun, a digital scale and $6,140.

Garrison was being held Monday night on $350,000 bond. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
