STILLWATER, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 15-year-old boy has died after jumping from a bridge while swimming with friends in upstate New York.

Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo says Tuesday the boy was with several other people on the bridge over the Hudson River in Stillwater, 21 miles north of Albany.

He says it’s a popular spot for swimmers on hot days.

Zurlo says the boy dove from the bridge at about 1 p.m. and came to the surface briefly before going under and not resurfacing.

It took searchers until 2:45 p.m. to find his body.

They boy’s name and cause of death weren’t initially released.
