NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office says an 18-year-old from New Orleans will spend 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
A news release from the prosecutor’s office says Everis Hilton pleaded guilty Tuesday in the shooting death of Demone Robinson of Harvey during a robbery.
The guilty plea averted a trial for Hilton. The killing happened in June 2014, when Hilton was 16. He was charged with second-degree murder and faced life in prison.
The news release says that, as a result of the plea deal, Judge Lee Faulkner will formally sentence Hilton to the maximum 40 years at a July 18 hearing.
