MADISON, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a north Alabama church worker has been arrested on child pornography charges.

Madison County officials say John Lindbergh Ellard Martin is charged with possession and dissemination of child pornography. He has been working as assistant director for religious education at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Madison.

Sheriff’s Capt. Michael Salomonsky says investigators found evidence that Martin used computers at his home and the church to store and spread images and video of children being sexually abused.

He says none of the children have been identified.

A statement posted online by the pastor says the church has seen nothing that would lead it to believe the charges against Martin.

Court files aren’t available to show whether Martin has a lawyer to speak on his behalf.
