FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Kim Rothstein says she’s turned her life around and is asking a judge to shave off the final eight months of her sentence.

Her ex-husband, former lawyer Scott Rothstein, was charged with running a $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme. She served 15 months behind bars for trying to hide $1 million in jewelry and assets from authorities.

The coupled divorced last year, more than five years after their high-flying lifestyles came undone. Their homes, cars and jewelry were seized and sold to repay investors.

According to court records filed Tuesday, she wrote a letter telling the judge she’s worked hard to correct her mistakes and is now a saleswoman at a luxury car dealership working 60 to 80 hours a week.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel (https://tinyurl.com/create.php) reports she says she’s eligible for a promotion if her probation is terminated early.
