LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles fire officials say buildings were gutted by a blaze that tore through a shopping center and sent up a huge plume of smoke in the Monterey Hills area.

City Fire says the building was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday and a roof later partially collapsed.

Several roads in the area are closed. The shopping center contains a grocery market, sushi restaurant, dry cleaners and other stores.

No injuries are reported. The cause is under investigation.
