DENVER (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a man who was injured in an officer-involved shooting near a nightclub in downtown Denver.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/8BeMdi ) 40-year-old Kevin Jones is being held for investigation of first-degree assault and is still being treated for his injuries.

Investigators say a dispute began outside an apartment complex early Sunday morning, and a guard at the building used pepper spray to break it up.

The guard summoned two off-duty Denver police officers working at a nearby nightclub. About that time, two men returned to the scene, and one started firing. An officer and the security guard shot back at the men.

Bars were letting out at the time, and there were a number of people in the area, but no bystanders were hurt.

Police documents don’t indicate if Jones has hired and attorney.
