LOS ANGELES (AP) - A man has been sentenced to nearly nine years in prison for assaulting a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy while fleeing in a stolen pickup truck.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office says 31-year-old Jesse Alan Tucker of Newhall was sentenced Tuesday for felony assault on a peace officer, resisting and other criminal counts.

Prosecutors say that on Feb. 2, 2015, authorities were pursuing a stolen Ford F-150 pickup truck when it hit a deputy’s patrol car. Tucker then backed up and aimed the vehicle at the deputy.

That was two days after he successfully evaded deputies, driving recklessly through William S. Hart Park and damaging property.LO
