LOS ANGELES (AP) - A man who lost both legs after stealing and crashing a Los Angeles police cruiser four years ago has been accused in the strangling death of his boyfriend at a sober living home.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office says 28-year-old Nicholas Bowling was charged Tuesday with one count of murder.

Prosecutors say he strangled 48-year-old Frank Rogers during a dispute Friday at the facility in Echo Park where they both lived. Bowling is held on $2 million bail. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.

The Los Angeles Times says (https://lat.ms/29DyYIc) Bowling has a criminal history involving domestic violence and drug possession.

In 2012 he was severely injured after stealing a police car and crashing it into a building. He had both legs removed as a result of his injuries.
