CINCINNATI (AP) - A Maryland slaying suspect accused of pulling a knife on a police officer who then shot him along Interstate 75 in suburban Cincinnati pleaded guilty to a charge of felonious assault on a police officer and has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

A Hamilton County court official said Pablo Javier Aleman entered the plea Wednesday, and prosecutors dropped an attempted murder charge.

Authorities say Aleman was walking along the highway in suburban Evendale on March 29 and pulled a knife after the Glendale officer approached. Aleman was shot in the abdomen. The officer wasn’t hurt.

Authorities say Aleman was wanted by Baltimore County police in Maryland in connection with a March 17 stabbing death.

Aleman’s attorney, Brad Fox, says his client sought the plea agreement.
