CLINTWOOD, Va. (AP) - A man accused of shooting three relatives in southwest Virginia has been charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Authorities say 52-year-old Jamie Neil Sykes faces the charges in connection with Tuesday’s shooting.

Dickenson County Sheriff Bobby Hammons says Sykes’ wife, Teresa, and her parents, David and Glenna Robbins, were all shot at the Robbins’ home. All survived.

Hammons says Jamie Sykes barricaded himself in a house before surrendering after negotiations over the phone.

Authorities say Teresa Sykes was in serious condition late Tuesday at a hospital in Tennessee. David Robbins was in good condition and his wife was in critical condition.

It’s unclear if Jamie Sykes has an attorney.
