MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - Prosecutors say 31 people have been indicted in connection with a ring that distributed heroin and cocaine on Long Island.

Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas says the suspects were arrested Thursday. She says the arrests took down five separate drug operations that were being supplied by one man.

Singas says the suspects are accused of cutting, packing and distributing heroin and cocaine, which was later sold on the streets of Long Island. Authorities believe the operation brought in nearly $3 million in the last four months.

Investigators say they seized more than $250,000 worth of cocaine and 50 grams of heroin. They say they also seized about $125,000 in cash and six guns during the nine-month investigation.

Prosecutors suspect the drugs are linked to five overdoses on Long Island.
