SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The Air Force says an airman has died while training at a military camp near San Antonio.

Airman 1st Class Kenneth Sturgill died July 7 while attending the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape Selection School at Camp Bullis.

Capt. Jose Davis with the Air Education and Training Command in San Antonio said Thursday that Sturgill was found unresponsive during a routine safety check by his instructors. Efforts by military and civilian medical personnel to revive him were unsuccessful.

The cause of Sturgill’s death is still under investigation. Sturgill was in his 18th of 19 training days at the selection school, which provides survival skills training.

He was assigned to the 66th Training Squadron, Detachment 3.

The 21-year-old was from Livermore, California. He had graduated from basic military training in April.
