GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) - Horse racing in Grants Pass found a larger audience this year, and the wagering dollars followed.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports (https://is.gd/I2dV6T ) that the recent meet at the Josephine County Fairgrounds was the most successful in years.

Total attendance over the nine days topped 25,000, an 11 percent jump from last year.

The betting handle, meanwhile, was $380,819 - 22 percent more than a year ago.

Racing officials credit good weather, support from local businesses and increased public awareness.
