FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Republican Gov. Matt Bevin, his wife and their nine children will move into the 25-room Governor’s Mansion next month.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports (https://bit.ly/29FHCoV ) the Bevin family will be the largest ever to occupy the mansion, which opened in January 1914 in Frankfort.

Bevin spokeswoman Jessica Ditto said the Bevin family will keep their home in Louisville and the children will continue to attend Louisville schools. Ditto said one office in the mansion was converted to a bedroom to accommodate the large family, but it did not require renovations.

Bevin and his wife, Glenna, married in 1996. They adopted four children, between the ages of 2 and 10, from Ethiopia in 2012.
