OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee has released his first television ad, a day after his Republican challenger took to the air.

The statewide ad started airing Thursday on broadcast and cable stations across the state. In the 30-second ad, Inslee says he has been focused on jobs since his 2012 election.

He also cited a college tuition cut - which originated with Senate Republicans - that he signed into law last year.

Inslee is seeking re-election to a second term. His opponent is former Port Commissioner Bill Bryant.

Both candidates will appear on the Aug. 2 primary ballots that are arriving in voters’ mailboxes this week. The general election is Nov. 8.
