MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Republican Sen. Ron Johnson says he is not ruling out attending the Republican national convention next week in Cleveland after all.

Johnson told the “Devil’s Advocate Radio Show” on 92.1 FM in Madison on Wednesday that making a “quick little trip” to Cleveland next week is “a possibility.”

Johnson’s campaign has said for weeks that he had no plans to go to Cleveland and instead would be spending the week in Wisconsin. Johnson’s spokesman Brian Reisinger said Thursday that his plan “at this point is to treat next week like any other - traveling across Wisconsin listening to the economic and national security concerns of Wisconsinites.”

Johnson was not on the list of speakers for the convention released Thursday.

He is in a tough re-election battle against Democrat Russ Feingold.
