CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Authorities are investigating accusations that a detention officer in the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office leaked confidential information about a sexual assault case investigation.

Sgt. Aaron Shatto of the Sheriff’s Office says the Casper Police Department was called in to help with the investigation into the incident.

Shatto declined to identify the officer suspected of leaking the information or to provide details about the case the information pertained to.

He says the confidential information released should have been known only to law enforcement and the victim of the alleged assault.

Shatto says the detention officer did not directly release the confidential information, but apparently told a relative who shared the information with the suspect in the assault case. The suspect then contacted the victim.
