WASHINGTON (AP) - An official says a man working under a car in northwest Washington died after a jack apparently failed.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Doug Buchanan says someone found the man around 5:30 a.m. Thursday and called for help. Emergency workers responded to the rear of the 4400 block of Kansas Avenue northwest, but Buchanan says the man was pronounced dead. He says the man was working under the car when the jack fell.

Buchanan says foul play isn’t suspected and the investigation has been handed over to police.
