JOPPA, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say they are not sure that a man who was found mortally injured on a Harford County road was involved in a hit and run.

Spokesman Greg Shipley said in a news release that 22-year-old Timothy L. White Jr. of Joppa was pronounced dead early Thursday on state Route 7 in Joppa. Troopers received a call about a person lying in the road and arrived to find a man performing CPR on the victim.

Shipley said that investigators determined that a pickup truck driver came upon White lying in the road and could not avoid hitting him. The driver performed CPR until troopers arrived.

Police say it is unclear if White was hit by another vehicle before being hit by the pickup.

White’s car was found nearby.
