CINCINNATI (AP) - Police say a man accused of shooting and seriously injuring a 2-year-old boy and a man in Cincinnati has been arrested on charges of felonious assault.

Police say 35-year-old Ernest Cephas was arrested Thursday in the Wednesday night shooting. Court records don’t show an attorney for the Cincinnati man, who remained in jail awaiting an initial hearing.

The police statement says the child and the man who were shot remained hospitalized Thursday in critical condition. Their identities and relationship weren’t immediately released.oh

WXIX-TV reports police Sgt. Mike Miller said the man and child were shot as the man was placing the child in a vehicle.

Police say the shooting was reported around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. They did not comment on any suspected motive.
