NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) - A Providence man has been sentenced to life in prison in the beating death of a man inside a Middletown hotel.

Todd Sullo pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of second-degree murder in the March 1 killing of Mark Lussier.

Sullo and his girlfriend, Lavern Price of Newport had been staying with Lussier at the Quality Inn & Suites in Middletown.

Authorities say an argument led to the killing.

Authorities say the couple drove to New York City, where they ran up a tab on Lussier’s credit cards. They were arrested two days after the killing following a high-speed chase on Interstate 95 in Connecticut ended in a crash near New London.

Price remains in prison, awaiting trial on murder and conspiracy charges.

This story has been corrected to show that suspect’s last name is Sullo, not Sollo.
