ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (AP) - Memorial services are set for two bailiffs killed during an inmate’s escape attempt at a southwestern Michigan courthouse.

Visitation for 61-year-old Joseph Zangaro is Thursday at Starks and Menchinger Chapel in St. Joseph. A celebration of life service is planned Friday at the Mendel Center near Benton Harbor.

Gov. Rick Snyder has ordered U.S. and Michigan flags to be lowered to half-staff Friday on state buildings in Zangaro’s honor.

Visitation for 63-year-old Ronald Kienzle is Sunday at Starks and Menchinger Chapel followed by a Monday funeral at the Mendel Center.

Authorities say 44-year-old Larry Darnell Gordon was handcuffed Monday at Berrien County’s Circuit Court when he disarmed Deputy James Atterberry Jr. during a fight and shot him. Gordon was killed.

The sheriff’s department says Atterberry is out of the hospital.
