LEWES, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have arrested a woman they say left her 2-year-old son in a parked car near a store in Lewes.

The agency said in a news release that on the afternoon of July 8, troopers were called to the Dollar General on Savannah Road. Police say witnesses had taken the boy out of the unlocked car after they saw him in the vehicle.

Authorities say the outside temperature reached a high of 94 degrees and the boy may have been in the car for an hour.

Troopers say the boy was treated for dehydration and released to a relative.

Police say they found the boy’s mother, 34-year-old Nicole Eames of Lewes, inside the store. She was charged with reckless endangering and driving under the influence of a drug.
