RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming State Penitentiary inmate has been accused of attacking a guard last November.

The Rawlins Daily Times reports (https://bit.ly/29wKyW6 ) that 29-year-old Colbey Emms on Monday pleaded not guilty to a charge of interference with a peace officer. Emms is serving eight to ten years for a previous conviction.

According to an affidavit that was not filed until April, Emms became aggressive with a correctional officer on Nov. 2. The report says Emms was yelling at the guard, caused the guard to spill hot water on himself and then punched the guard in the head and neck.

The guard was told by a doctor that he may have torn ligaments in his neck as a result of the attack.

A trial will be scheduled in the case within 180 days.
