MIDDLETON, Wis. (AP) - Democratic Senate candidate Russ Feingold says the selection of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence to be Donald Trump’s running mate is a “pretty extreme choice.”

Feingold was asked about Trump’s pick following a speech on Friday. Feingold is running for the U.S. Senate against Republican Sen. Ron Johnson.

Johnson’s spokesman Brian Reisinger calls Pence a “serious, conservative leader who understands how to get things done.”

Johnson has said he supports Trump but has not endorsed him.

Feingold says Pence is extreme on economic and social issues and is on the wrong side of issues affecting gays, lesbians and women.

Feingold says “it’s a pretty extreme ticket and one I think will lose to a more positive, upbeat ticket on the Democratic side once it’s announced.”
