GRAHAM, N.C. (AP) - A Graham woman has admitted to creating fake notes saying she was in the hospital when she was supposed to be in court.

The Burlington Times-News reports (https://bit.ly/29HUL2U) 27-year-old Amy Collier was supposed to be in court in February and supposed to meet with her probation officer after a September misdemeanor conviction. Instead, letters came in saying she was in the hospital in High Point.

Alamance County prosecutor Kennedy Gates says the letters were on High Point Regional UNC Health Care letterhead. However, when asked, hospital employees said Collier had never been a patient there.

Collier eventually admitted she had never been at the High Point hospital. She says she had been at a hospital, but wasn’t clear about which one.

The District Attorney’s Office filed a charge of obstruction against Collier, for which she will serve a 90-day sentence.
