ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) - A man has denied charges in connection with an alleged attack on a Seaside police officer that left her with a concussion.

The Daily Astorian reports (https://bit.ly/2a2Juxy ) that Phillip Ellis Allen II pleaded not guilty Thursday to several charges, including assaulting a public safety officer and resisting arrest for the July 6 incident.

Officer Elise Parkman had been responding to a report of harassment on a beach when she came across the man, who authorities say refused orders and attacked the officer.

Parkman, who was hospitalized for a concussion, has since recovered and is back on patrol.

The suspect is being held in the Clatsop County Jail on $25,000 bail.
