DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - A mixed martial arts promoter in eastern Iowa has been given three months in prison for filing a false federal tax return.

Prosecutors say 56-year-old Monte Cox, of Bettendorf, was sentenced Wednesday. He must serve a year of supervised release after leaving custody and cooperate with the Internal Revenue Service to determine any tax liability.

Cox pleaded guilty in October to filing a false return for 2009. His plea agreement says Cox under-reported income from 2007 through 2010 while operating Ultimate Productions Inc. Prosecutors say Cox didn’t report income estimated at more than $1.1 million over those four years.
