HONOLULU (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says it’s searching for a plane with two people aboard that disappeared off radar after reporting an emergency on a flight between Maui and Kona.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Melissa McKenzie tells the Honolulu Star-Advertiser (https://bit.ly/29CyIsN) that the twin-engine plane reported an in-flight emergency to the tower at Honolulu Airport at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.

McKenzie says shortly afterward the plane lost contact with the tower and then disappeared from radar.

The plane last appeared about 25 miles northwest of Kona.
