DONALDSONVILLE, La. (AP) - State police say two women died and a man faces charges after a two vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 1 in Ascension Parish.

Trooper Bryan Lee says 32-year-old Ashley Stevenson, of Donaldsonville, and 17-yeaer-old Stormy Hunnicutt, of Prairieville, died in Thursday’s crash.

Lee says the crash occurred as 21-year-old Brennan Simoneaux (SIM’-uh-noh), of St. Amant, was northbound and 28-year-old Jasmine Allen, of Baton Rouge, was headed south.

Lee says Simoneaux crossed the centerline in an attempt to pass another vehicle when he struck Allen’s car head-on.

He says Hunnicutt, a passenger in Simoneaux’s vehicle, died at the scene.

Stevenson, a passenger in Allen’s vehicle, died at a hospital.

Lee says Simoneaux faces charges of negligent homicide, reckless operation, careless operation and no seat belt.

Both Simoneaux and Allen are hospitalized.
