NORTH BEND, Ore. (AP) - Police have identified a 25-year-old Coos Bay man as the suspect in a bomb scare last month that caused evacuations in downtown North Bend.

North Bend police told The World newspaper of Coos Bay (https://is.gd/8nNqQ0 ) they plan to file charges of disorderly conduct and possession of a hoax destructive device. The suspect, William Emery, is currently in jail for a probation violation out of Salem.

The device that caused alarm was made of various electrical parts, a small electric engine, cardboard, and the remains of a paper shredder housed in plastic wrapping.

A passer-by saw it on a window ledge outside of a store. A bomb squad discovered it was not explosive.
