ROCKY POINT, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 40-year-old man is dead after his sport utility vehicle crashed into a wooded area on Long Island.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/2aeV05n ) Jeffrey Kitz lost control of his Chevrolet Trailblazer, crossed over the center line of the road and crashed into the woods in Rocky Point on Thursday morning.

The Mount Sinai man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
