TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - A 15-year-old Lowell girl is facing charges for allegedly writing a threatening note found in a Catholic girls’ school in Tyngsborough and trying to frame another student of sending racist messages.

Police said Thursday the former student at the Academy of Notre Dame faces charges including disturbing a school assembly and criminal harassment. Her name was not released because of her age.

Police say she sent messages over social media targeting black students that included the initials of another student.

A threatening note targeting minority students was also found in a bathroom in May, prompting the school to close for a day.

Police tracked the social media content to the girl’s home.

She has been expelled.
