STERLING, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut State Police are investigating the death of a 9-month-old girl in the rural town of Sterling.

Officers responded to a home day care at around 11:45 a.m. Thursday on a report of an unresponsive baby.

The unidentified baby was taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich, where police say she was later pronounced dead.

Police say the death doesn’t appear to be a criminal incident. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
