LOWELL, N.C. (AP) - Emergency officials in Gaston County say one man has been killed after a freight train hit a Waste Management truck in the town of Lowell.

Officials told local media outlets that the accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. Monday.

A spokesman for the Ranlo Fire Department said the tracks are on Waste Management property and did not have a stop arm or flashing red lights.
