FANWOOD, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a driver was electrocuted when live power lines fell on her car during a severe storm.

The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Monday in Fanwood.

Witnesses say the 26-year-old Plainfield woman was driving down Midway Avenue when she tried to avoid a fallen tree. The wires then unexpectedly fell on her car, and she was killed when she tried to get out of the vehicle.

Police say the woman was alone in the car when the accident occurred. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman’s name has not been released pending notification of relatives.

No one else was injured in the incident.
