WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man accused of slashing a police officer’s face with a steak knife has been ordered held without bail.

The Worcester District Attorney’s Office says 30-year-old Patxie Delorbe pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of assault and battery on a police officer and related crimes.

Officers responded to a Worcester apartment around 4 a.m. Sunday where a 23-year-old woman told them her ex-boyfriend, identified as Delorbe, was threatening her over the phone. She said she had a restraining order against him.

Police say Delorbe showed up while officers were there. Police say Delorbe used a steak knife to slash one officer while he was being arrested.

The officer received stitches at a local hospital.

A dangerousness hearing is scheduled for July 27. It’s unclear whether Delorbe has a lawyer.
