RAMONA, Calif. (AP) - Firefighters stopped small wildfires in Southern California that partially closed a freeway and briefly threatened homes.

Fire officials say residents in the community of Barona Mesa in eastern San Diego County were asked to evacuate Monday as a precaution after a wildfire charred 133 acres. The evacuation order was later lifted after crews stopped flames from advancing.

About 50 miles northwest in Riverside County, several small brush fires temporarily closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Temecula. One lane remained closed through the evening commute.

Those fires damaged several golf carts and a storage shed before they were fully contained. A firefighter was treated at a hospital.
