HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A strong storm has rolled through the state, downing trees and power lines and causing widespread damage.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the entire state until 8 p.m. Monday.

In Ansonia, a tree fell onto a house. No one was there at the time, and no injuries were reported.

The Connecticut Post reports police say lightning struck a house in Trumbull, causing a small fire.

There were reports of downed trees and power lines around the state. Officials say thousands were left without power during the height of the storm.
