GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - A judge in Campbell County has sentenced a 45-year-old woman for forgery related to checks she wrote on a Girl Scouts account.

District Judge Thomas W. Rumpke sentenced Donna J. Howard to 30 days in jail but suspended the prison term to account for time already served.

The Gillette News Record reports (https://bit.ly/29KbzEL) that he also placed her on three years of supervised probation and ordered her to pay $660 in fees and to have no personal involvement with the local Girl Scouts organization.

Howard and her attorney maintained that she was trying to show security problems with the Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming by writing checks to her husband’s account last August.

Howard had pleaded no contest to the forgery charge on Feb. 18.
