HARTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say the body of an 18-year-old suburban Detroit man who jumped from a boat into a lake in Livingston County to swim has been found.

The Livingston Daily Press & Argus of Howell reports the body of Andrew Massey of Chesterfield Township was found about 25 to 30 feet from shore in Handy Lake following a Monday search.

Hartland Deerfield Fire Marshal Michael Bernardin says the man wasn’t wearing a life jacket.

Authorities say the man was on a pontoon boat with a group of friends and cousins ranging in age from 15 to 18 who were fishing. They say that he apparently became hot and jumped in for a swim, but didn’t resurface. WHMI-FM reports that prompted a large-scale search.
