FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - The body of a missing boater has been recovered from a Massachusetts pond after a dayslong search.

The Bristol District Attorney’s Office says the body of Emerson Belirio was discovered Tuesday morning in South Watuppa Pond in Fall River.

The 35-year-old Fall River man was reported missing at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday after he jumped from a 20-foot boat into the water and never resurfaced. Authorities say he was wearing an unsecured life jacket at the time.

Rescue personnel searched until nightfall Saturday and again on Sunday and Monday.

The body is now in the custody of the state medical examiner’s office.

Foul play is not suspected. It does not appear that alcohol played a role in the incident.
