DANIELSON, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut man wanted by authorities in connection with a kidnapping and related crimes in Maine has been arrested.

Sherman Stigler, of Willimantic, was arraigned Tuesday in Danielson Superior Court on a charge of being a fugitive from justice. He was arrested Monday.

Police say the 31-year-old Stigler is wanted in Maine on multiple charges, including burglary, aggravated criminal trespassing and larceny. Police didn’t elaborate on Stigler’s alleged crimes.

The Hartford Courant reports that court records show Stigler was convicted in 2015 of third-degree assault and sale of a hallucinogen and narcotics after being arrested in Willimantic.

Stigler is being held on a $250,000 cash bond. Police say he will face an extradition hearing.

It’s unclear whether Stigler has retained a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.
