WASHINGTON (AP) - Transit officials in Washington say that dust from construction work has created a haze in a rail line tunnel.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority says that an exhaust system was working to clear the air Tuesday morning.

Many Metrorail riders initially were worried that smoke had filled the tunnel, but Metro officials assured passengers that the dust simply created a haze.

Metro officials say the station is not closed, but cautioned riders to be mindful when entering the station.
